Early Detection of Lung Cancer!!!

I have this article from a school paper nearby my place and it really caught my attention. It is alarming that lung cancer is not just a disease but it a fact tht we should all be aware of since almost 85% of middle age persons and even youngster is into smoking.

Health is really wealth, because if you are not healthy you wont be able to obtain a job, people will stay away from you, sometimes even your family wont go anywhere near you. The simplest reason is they might acquire the virus and spread it further. That is very understandable but to the sick person it is really painful. Let me share the article that I have read.

Early Detection of Lung Cancer

New data from several studies evaluating new techniques for early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer are being presented at the first European Multidisciplinary Conference on Thoracic Oncology (EMCTO) in Lugano, Switzerland (May 1-3 2009).

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide and also in Europe. One of the reasons for this is that symptoms of lung cancer are very often lacking or occur only late in the course of the disease," said Prof Rudolf M. Huber from the University of Munich in Germany.

The prognosis of lung cancer patients is very dependent on how advanced their disease is. In stage I for example, where the tumors has not yet spread, 5-year-survival rates are about 70%; whereas in stage IV, where it has metastasized to other parts of the body, survival is about 1%. Even for patients with locally advanced tumors, survival over 5 years is only about 10%. Therefore every effort should be undertaken to diagnose early in the course of the disease.

Developing better tools for distinguishing between lung cancer and other lung diseases will help us offer greater hope for patients," added Prof Huber.

In one study presented at the conference, Italian researchers compare two computed tomography techniques for diagnosing indeterminate lung lesions, finding that a form of single-photon emission computed tomography could offer an alternative method in situations where positron emission tomography is not available.

In another abstract, UK scientists report that a new approach to diagnosis that ensures a patient has had a chest CT scan before they attend a clinic has the potential to reduce the time between their first abnormal chest X-ray and final diagnosis.

Also during the conference, Greek investigators suggest that they may have found a new factor that will help indicate a patient's prognosis at the time of diagnosis. Their work indicates that the expression of specific cell surface molecules on tumors cells correlates with clinical parameters. The results "could comprise a promising prognostic factor in lung carcinomas, thus presenting exciting possibilities for the future.

After reading this, I knew that there is better way now to find out lungs diseases of if a person have lung cancer. We really need to take care of our health not just for ourselves but for our love ones too.

Miss Universe 2009 - a prestige pageant and yet!!!

Miss Universe 2009 coronation night, dated August 24, 8:00 am Manila time, I can't say that it was a great one, I have seen a lot of pageants and this year Miss Universe is something I wont forget. Why? It is given that Venezuela wont the crown for 2 consecutive year and that is history in the making, I never happen before that the reigning queen and the successor of the crown came from the same country.

I also want to commend that all the candidates for this year is all beautiful in every aspect. I love Miss Philippines "Bianca Manalo", she represents our country and she is one my favorite since Binibining Pilipinas pageant. When the top 15 was announced it is sad that she was not able to make it. Miss Kosovo "Marigona Dragusha" is my top choice for the crown after that, she really walk like a goddess on the stage. I am still happy that she became the second runner.

Now here is something I don't approved, it is understandable how these two lovely crowned beauty queen from Venezuela Miss Universe 2008 "Dayana Mendoza and Miss Universe 2009 "Stephania Fernandez how happy they are of the outcome of the said pageant because this is the first time in Miss Universe that the same country wins for 2 consecutive years. But have you notice how Miss Universe 2008 crowned her successor, it is noticeable, she did not crowned her correctly, she suppose to crown her in front and not from behind and that is one of the reason that the crown "Peace" fel directly to the floor. Shee need to make sure that she was able to turn over the crown to her successor correct and it seem that she putting a hoop in a pole when did it.

I know that she is very happy, nevertheless she cannot afford to lose control in front of international television. It happen, the least that I can do as a viewer is maybe understand their actions. Be aware nextime....Watch your poise...

Seeing Nathan with his Tantrums!

I visit Nathan at least trice or four times a month, for the first time I see him with his tantrums and he continuously ran with his grandma for help. He wanted to walk farther that afternoon, every afternoon Nathan and my mom go for a walk and he wanted them to go to the next block because they went their the other day, and he wanted to do it again the following day. My mom wont do it and he keep on forcing my mom for awhile and cried for nearly 30 minutes because he was not able to get what he wants.

We were able to capture some photos during his tantrums, he still look good....hehehehe...

Nathan loves Darna!!!

We are all surprise when we heard Nathan shouted "DARNA" while we are watching Darna. Darna is a local superhero TV series here in the Philippines, a lot of kids really love watching this TV series, and we are really stunned when our little baby shouted Darna's famous line of transpormation from human form to superhero.

This is something new to him and we are happy because he still developing his speech.

Nathan New Bike from Ninong Ernie!!!

Bicycle for Nathan!!!

We thought of buying Nathan I new bike for his birthday since he is really likes his our neighbors bike but he's not big enough to it. When his Ninong Ernie learned that we will be getting a bicycle for him, he automatically volunteered that he will be the one to get if for him.

We are very thankful about and Nathan is so happy about his new ride.

The day has ended for our 1 day team building at Balai isabel in Batangas, almost everyone had a great time but I am so sorry for our team lead James because he got sick(fever) and was not able to enjoy the event. He was so excited at first and all he does the whole day is sleep to recover from his illness.

Twilight - New Moon - Volturi Cast!!!

November is still a along time to wait for the next twilight movie, the 2nd book "New Moon". I have heard some news about who is going to portray the Volturi coven in Italy. Volturi in twilight Saga said to be the royal family of vampires of make sure the their secrets remain unknown to humans.

It's Swimming Time at Balai Isabel!!!

After the activities the organizers have prepared for us that day, it's time for us to enjoy the rest of the day, so after lunch we headed for swimming at Balai Isabel Moby Deep. Moby Deep is a custom made swimming made from plastic, since it is not advisable to swim on the Taal lake, we ended up simming at Moby Deep. Balai Isabel has 2 more swimming pool the large one is the called it Eternity pool and I was not able to get the name of the other one (sorry....). The photos will show how excited and happy we our til the end of the day at Balai Isabel...

CAN-SPAN - a good thing!!!

Everyday I have received hundreds of e-mail from everywhere, but when I check it, it's more on and advertisement and even if you have requested not to included your e-mail in their mailing list they still continue to send you e-mail even the 30 days has already pass.

CAN-SPAN act of 2003 is a good thing because now we have a way to eliminate and get back to those companies who send us e-mail without our permission or simply if they just getting our e-mail addresses from some list. Like me I always receive something that I have won a prize or my e-mail has won in an electronic raffle which I have no idea at all and when I check and try to comply to their requirement they will simply ask you for some out in order for you to claim you prize and you don't even know that once have given them the amount they are asking, you still end up not getting anything and when you try get through them nobody will be answering you back.

Another thing you will notice that you will receive an e-mail stating that someone has died and have left a large amount of uncollected money on their possession and they will ask you to do something in order to get that money.

This is the kind of e-mail that you will received and if you agree to them, there is no assurance that what they promise is true, they simply want to rip you of and do anything to get money out from your account and you are not certain that you won’t max out your card or bank account.

So beware with this kind of SPAM....

.....To continue with the happenings at Balai Isabel in Talisay Batangas where our company held this year team Building. Like what I have mentioned from my previous posts, this is just a one day event so we try to do all the things that needed to be done on the said event. After we have roamed the vicinity of Balai Isabel, the organizer conducted team building game to make our stay at Balai Isabel an exciting and a meaningful one. Only two type of LOB (Line of Business) is scheduled for this event and the following week after us there will be another group that will doing what we did. we make the most out of it and below are the additional captured moments....
